They added a former NBA player Jimmer Fredette since then. He is lethal a former college phenomenon. His pro career would of been much different if he was drafted today. I agree with you though, if they fielded the team with current NBA players it would be a very easy gold medal but they still got a shot with Jimmer. In 3v3 the 3 pointer counts as 2 and a two pointer counts as 1 so the importance of the 3 pointer is way more. Jimmer was born for that.
There’s a half court 3x3 basketball game in the Olympics. Why doesn’t the US field NBA players for the team? They failed to qualify for the 2020 Olympics but are in the Paris #olympics. I gotta think rather than playing a team of players who were cut or undrafted by the NBA and played in basketball leagues overseas, the US could just pick another 4 players from the NBA. It’s not like 3x3 is THAT different from full court basketball… i mean every NBA player grew up with it as a kid. Sure, the tactics and rules are somewhat different, but it’s MOSTLY the same game. Why wouldn’t there be some NBA players who didn’t make the full court 5x5 team not want to get a gold medal in half court 3x3?
