They don't get enough value for the value they are providing.

That ought to get old after a while.

#nostr fixes this

It definitely does fix it.

To be honest - who is commenting or discussing news articles on websites… FB Insta etc have become the same sort of channels infested with ads, ads, ads. I don’t spend any minute there anymore… Nostr is the only peer to peer protocol, and when I zap, then I know the Sats are going directly in the pockets of the creators, meme-makers, photographers…

Article rings true. The teenagers I know all just message each other. Now Insta or anything.

Ive been saying (I don't think it's a unique view of mine by the way) for a while that social media usage will be seen as 'sad' and 'losery' pretty soon. Ie how using forums and such used to be seen. Touch Grass is a political movement. Lol

I've also sort of seen a resurgence of messageboards (obviously this is anecdotal).

Makes sense that people want a semblance of community, 'community' might be too grand a word here. But 'online community' or just a topic/interest-focused grouping in message board -style

Absolutely! Regular social is broken with no recovery in sight. Community is a need of the human, we have a great opportunity here to build a social we need and deserve.
