How much of social media culture is a subconscious striving for and playing out of a fantasy to either be the leader of a cyber cult of personality or be a follower of one?

I think the BIG trend is that all those caught up in & dying inside the Digital Gulags will want to watch and reward those roaming free outside :-)

But yeah, that trend is ancient and a driver of most stuff too

Interesting. My mind goes to how in recent history we suspend disbelief when we watch a movie. We choose to enter into a "fantasy" perhaps as a means to escape our mundane lives. Your idea of being in a digital gulag is maybe similar but strange in that we choose to be in the digital gulag and then seek to follow those who aren't stuck in it, to escape. Kind of like locking ourselves into a cinema, throwing away the key and watching movies as a means of escape!

I want to be a Superman, so I'll go and watch someone else being one🤔😵‍💫
