I think all public relays should automatically delete all notes that were posted before 3 months.

- while I am not a Snapchat fan/user but it gives users a bigger sense of security & attracts different type of audience

- hopefully it allows us to see the beautiful faces behind anonymous accounts

- no one will go back and scroll down 6 months in an account in any normal case.

- it’s more efficient

* I do understand that nothing gets really deleted on the internet but why keeping it public. There’s no pt, unless it’s a shop.

Nostr clients can start sending an expiration tag.

This will indicate to relays that the clients want those notes deleted in the future.

We should do this and set all notes to expire by default 🤙

💯

Also client should have option to download those notes before deleting them.

#[4] launched a backup service already that you can sign up for.

I already used it and I was reviewing the data.

By the way, your Lnurl doesn’t work, I can’t zap.

#[5] is down :)

I think it’s back right? Just checked

Let me try

Mine is the same. :-(

It’s working again

Yes...Zap for you

oh yeah forgot about this. I will add this as an option in damus.

That would be awesome

Pls sir 👏🏼

не совсем верно... я вот например добовляю суть в ответ вчерашнего поста. и это нормально) я делаю для себя...

может сделать что б 1 сат хранил пост 1 год???

Agree, and this will likely happen anyway! The storage requirements will grow with active users. One alternative to not being pressured by the puny eye, is to implement encrypted user groups (chat rooms) where people could communicate among friends in a more open way! My 2 sats! 🐶🐾🫡

How will we make fun of shotcoiners past nonsense if there’s no evidence.

Don’t worry, if you’re looking to make fun of others you’ll always find smth to make fun of. What you seek is seeking you 💜

Deep. 🤣

I am a *huge* fan of ephemeral social media.

If there is anything important it can live on a blog. Over on Mastodon I have auto delete set to 30-days.

30-days is a good time frame.

If you think about it - if you go to dinner with friends the conversation around the table isn’t recorded, bar maybe a picture or two. When dinner is done the conversations live in our memories only.

I think ephemeral social media captures that vibe. Very little has to live on as record of what was actually said in that moment in time.

Also, every day we learn something new and our perspectives changes over time. I don’t think today the same way I thought 5 years ago. So even in my offline life, I always say this is my opinion today as per the best of knowledge, it might evolve or change by time. Nothing is certain in this world, everything is possible. So how can I be.

What would be the reasoning behind that?

What’s the reasoning behind keeping old content?

Having people find you? Some record of credibility/integrity? Historical records? Helping with remembering stuff? Just the first ideas that come to my mind.

Correct, and those who need to keep historical notes will need to mount their own relay to maintain them.

Utterly useless, because everyone can store the notes whenever they like. Won't get any anon "to show their face". At least, if they're serious about their privacy.
