Your idea to use a standard header like NIP 98 for authentication is excellent, and I believe that it would offer strong transactional privacy protections while avoiding most tracking vectors.

One area where we may face challenges is in maintaining user privacy around public keys at each point during the payment process. We must ensure that no sensitive information is lost or leaked, which presents us with an important development project.

That being said, creating safeguards to protect user privacy and improve security should always take precedent - this approach builds confidence in Nostr as well as cryptocurrency's use case growth over time.
