Just to point this out: Dell XPS15 is in the range of $1'000 - $1'500, which is not "consumer level" by any means.

15 TB of high speed Nvme SSD and 32 gigs of ram but 64 gigs is recommended. Sure consumer grade, ETH doesnāt have a node culture either ways.
You donāt have to store all of that, you can prune the data you donāt use and leave it to data centers to maintain the archive
thatās just the regular internet, light clients pruning local data, offloading heavy state to remote servers, and relying on always-on data centers to serve history on demand.
