I'm using pipepipe, a fork of newpipe, its working better than newpipe for me
I took a look, but it seems to have just have more fiddly knobs and some additional obscure sources. What am I missing?

Nothing, that's it, but is better maintained, which was the reason I started using it, because yt was becoming so annoying and pipepipe handled it better
