Unpopular opinion: Number of full nodes would skyrocket if there would available an app for Windows.

Don’t know if it’s even possible but certainly it would help if it is.

I'm a little new at all this stuff. But when you say full node, is that the Bitcoin core I run on my Umbrel server? I guess it is full because it has the entire blockchain on it but it doesn't earn any sats for having it. I guess I never got that. SOMEONE somewhere gets paid pretty well to "verify" transactions, and yet, as far as I understand it, the Bitcoin core I have and many others have verified transactions for consensus. Do you have to have a miner setup to get a piece of all those transaction fees?

Just curious. I'm happy to support the network and love learning about the technology.

To earn sats you need to have a miner with enough hashrate. A bitcoin node checks that txs sent to you are valid and also enforces the network rules for everyone.

Yes.

No full nodes get paid to verify transactions…

Unless it’s a full node with miners.

That’s called downloading bitcoin core

A download for Windows is available.

Windows has five million apps .. no one installs a random app unless it solves a real problem !

Besides what is the point of replicating a terabyte when it is already on say 50 K plus nodes !

Well I guess there is more bitcoiners than there are “fluent” linux users.

For me it was pain in the ass to set up a node on Linux. Thank god for AI.

And I wasn’t able to run an Electrum wallet for Trezor compatibility. All those missing libraries and such really isn’t my cup of coffee or what I want to solve when I have spare time.

My point was I would gladly install a node on a Windows PC and let it run all day, then to “learn Linux” from the scratch.

And I don’t think 50k or 200k computers is not adequate number to be honest.

You have windows subsytem for Linux ( WSL ) .. I think it should give you all the core utils to run anything that Linux does ! I haven't tested it though !

Besides learning / running Linux is easy ! Thanks to AI :-) .. and if you ever wanna host anything in clouds .. windows is 10 x the price of Debian !

Windows is garbage.

Bitcoin Core is already available for Windows, the complexity of setting up and running a full node remains a barrier for many potential users. But yes, if it was easier, it would be the case. OR, spreading more education about how easy it is to run a full node on a raspberry pi would do the same with a bit more time⚡️

How bout a wallet app that deploys you your own node?
