I feel like the amount of work involved would make the bones more ceremonial, when they weren't broken up and used for carved bone tools

it's a lot easier to pick up a stick than to get all the flesh off a bone without making it weak (e.g. by cooking)

but I am not an archaeologist :02shrug:
