relays are bad at topics or communities…. You could whitelist a certain client from a relay to segregate that content… this might have the unintended consequence of encouraging relays to moderate in all directions, when relays shouldn't have the pressure to be accepting of the content they serve. Relays need to get paid, i appreciate that it’s hard to sell pay us to keep things simple.

Other than subscription fees we have not figured out how to monetize the protocol yet. People may hate that idea but eventually we are going to have to figure out a way to pay for relays and clients or nostr will die. There is a reason bitcoin has economic incentives built in to pay miners.
yes and we should build the flow of value to reach relays... I've just been told many times that relays Dont work for communities because of rebroadcast, despite the fact that I agree if they were good at segregating communities, I fully agree that this would be an effective monitzation strategy.
