F that, how do we disable it

I don't think you can.

I told it to never translate English, but I have the app set to German.

Can't seem to get it to turn off.

It translates on the phone. All translation APIs track you and sell your data. Massive privacy role.

So is there an off switch or not? I mean I know for sure I was never asked, if anything should be translated. It is a bit like youtube, silently using AI-beautifying on every uploaded video without asking. I want to see the notes and messages in the form they were written. Not in the form some translator program delivers it to me (not even locally).

In the user preferences, where one can change hypotetically what is translated or not, the drop down does simply not work for me.

It does switch, but the cache keeps the message you activated on as it was for a while. I need to do a clean up when settings change there.

Ah, okay.

I literally have no option to change anything. A dropdown, which does not show any options to select. I can only select the "select" option.

I had English as an option, but I selected it and it disappeared, but the English is still being translated. Vitor said he's gonna look into it. πŸ€™πŸ»

It's on the translated message itself. Not on the settings menu. You can click the auto-translated label below the post.

Thanks for the info. I will try it the next time a see a translated message.

And is that llm part of android or amethyst?

Amethyst. It uses Google models, but it downloads to the phone first and runs everything locally.

thanks for explanation.

Okay, that's good.

i don't think fdroid version has it (get from direct apk/obtanium, not zapstore/google play)

Mine is from zapstore and it has it. I am not concerned now that I know it is local.

"That's great to hear! Local finds always have a special charm. 🌟 I'm curious about what else is out thereβ€”there's so much talent in our community! #SupportLocal"

You just user FOSS version, not the one on Google play.
