💀🧠 Looking for inspiration for new ways to present my (mostly) design work

The goal is to showcase the key attributes of my work on the project, which is usually not just design, but might include also naming, copywriting, campaign strategy, etc.

What options for a portfolio are there:

1️⃣ Solo website

A personal website that includes a portfolio, usually in the form of case studies, is a classic.

For me, the downside is the need to set up each new project’s landing page, since I like to present each project in a different way to match the mood and support the storytelling.

2️⃣ Dribbble/Behance

Platforms for designers to showcase their work. Easy to use. Suitable for those who don’t want or need to run a standalone website.

Despite Dribbble being the standard, using it as the main showcase solution kind of positions you right there - in the standard zone.

3️⃣ Printed presentation

Impressive, if crafted with care. Also the physical medium feels more serious - the effect of proof of work.

But comes with issues, distribution being the biggest, if you need to deliver portfolio on demand worldwide.

4️⃣ Video reviews

A video documentary about work on a specific project - including the designer’s commentary, thoughts, and insights - seems like a pretty effective and valuable way to showcase the full scale of contribution.

I haven’t actually seen this portfolio format yet. It would be quite difficult to produce, though.

So far, I’m using a combination of a simple website and a Dribbble portfolio, which works just fine. But I’d like to explore more options.

So, what else is out there? Have you experimented with any other solutions.. ?

Your insights will be appreciated:

#asknostr

sort of the other side of food chain random ideas (:

1️⃣

+you can truly own the whole infrastructure

+your website is another design work of yours

+your downside is an upside actually

2️⃣

-smells like a walled garden, #asknostr to vibe code an alternative, keep using 1️⃣&2️⃣ until bootstraped

3️⃣

+cool flex as an extra to the digital presentation

-don’t shoot your last leg by going offline only, one leg is enough by going nostr only

4️⃣

cool extra for website presentation, sounds like a timelapse recording needed, difficult for past projects

Discussion

ad 1️⃣ : Not a fan of website as a medium of visual storytelling - too many moving parts to watch to make it work properly.

ad 2️⃣ : That’s actually good idea...

ad 3️⃣ : Not ditching online, just looking for some new ideas 😉

ad 4️⃣ : I see it more as a documentary about the work, not just a more fancy presentation of the project. For the project owner, understanding the creative process is important to bond with the outcome. For the potential client looking around, it provides detailed personal view into my creative process. There’s value for everyone.

And finally, "behind the scenes" will show the difference between cold AI solution and skilled human.

OK, the more I think about the benefits of it, the more I think that’s just what I need.. 😁
