Imo the people who are doing the right things habitually don’t need the praise but I think they do enjoy it.

The meme about men remember compliments they got years later has truth to it, because specifically men are not recognized or complimented very often (typically).

A few years ago I was on a weekend trip w one of my best friends and I told him how proud I was of him and that he was the hardest working person I know. He works full time+ as an RV mechanic shop lead and is also a professional MMA fighter and a dad who pulls the majority of weight in his household (child care, cleaning, cooking, etc). I told him this because it’s true on all counts, he is a beast.

He literally teared up when I said that to him and told me no one had ever said that to him. I was shocked at the response and it made me realize more people need to hear when they’re doing well, respected, loved etc.

This is 100% true. I remember all the compliments I get. My exes don’t even remember the nicest things they’ve ever said to me lmao. But yeah you’re right we all like compliments. We just don’t need them or depend on them.
