decided to install #ElementaryOS (#Linux distro) on an old laptop for the sake of testing, a friend went on for a while stating it was amazing.

I have to admit it, it is awesome look and feel, Ubuntu based so is solid, played a bit, decided to update it... lost all network connectivity, NetworkManager disappeared, troubleshoot for an hour, no dice, not cool. Unistall the OS, install again, update again, sane result, lol, back to Ubuntu, but have to admit, quite nice GUI

Linux is stil, after so many years, a very unfriendly OS, the amount of commands needed to be typed to install and troubleshoot is overwhelming to any person, even for those like me using it for over a decade.

Since windows added Linux support to its OS it have been easier, working on a friendly GUI... and if you want still Ubuntu GUI, XFCE does the trick, you can run it on Windows with a remote desktop on localhost.

interesting, I'll try it, sounds like a fun little project to test

Just go Debian and install the same graphical environment. Probably lot more stable.
