It's not unusual for my kids to start detoxing at the change of a season, especially when it's as abrupt as what we recently experienced. Runny noses, occasional mucous cough, lethargy...if you have kids, you know! Every fall I mix up several tea blends for them, and this is one of them to help support the healing:

Equal parts:

Elderflower: respiratory conditions

Echinacea: drying antiviral

Yarrrow: viral infections and fever

Peppermint: colds (use catnip if your kids are younger than 4yo, and remove the echinacea)

Today I added a little adrographis powder, but I will warn you it's very bitter and not every kid can just slug it down. It's called the "king of bitters"! It's known an immunostimulant and detoxifier, and according to Sebastian Pole, is Scandinavia's most popular herbal flu remedy.

Love your herbal recipes. What do you think about hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis)? That’s one my family turns to for antiviral and respiratory help, too.

Also good but not typically used for wee ones (under 2ish). I haven't really used it at home much.

Thanks for the info! Hmm keeping track of what age which herbs become safe to use is something I’m going to have to get really smart about…
