Today in 2000, 23 years ago: the United Nations Security Council requests the Secretary-General to create an independent special court, to prosecute those responsible for the serious human rights violations committed in the territory of Sierra Leone since November 30, 1996, giving way to the formation of the Special Court for Sierra Leone.​
