There is really no harm in waiting a bit longer. There are likely hormonal maturation benefits to waiting. He won't be pussy if he gets clipped and there may be no problem with doing it now but I just don't you need to. Wait another year.
I don’t recommend neutering a big dog till it’s at least a year old . They had linked hip problems in big dogs to neutering them to early

My dog was neutered as a young puppy at the Humane Society. I’ve only ever known him as he is.
He’s super energetic at 5 years old, likes to wrestle, play rough, hide and seek, ect.
Makes me wonder if he’d be any different if he wasn’t neutered, but I’ll never know.
