He writes thoughtfully on the promise and disappointment of the internet and free/open source software as means for social and economic transformation. I probably categorize him as a lefty skeptic of Bitcoin, but not a a reflexively dogmatic one. My opinion as a both a bitcoin fellow traveler and a (lapsed) free-software-as-a-revolutionary-tool true believer is that there is something to be gained for those of us inside this part of the Venn diagram by engaging with just these sorts of critics; there's as much of an opportunity to for them to sharpen our focus as there is for us to persuade them.
