When brands are made illegal, consumers have no means of deciphering differences in product quality or selection, and are left less informed.

Huh? so tobacco is legal, but branding it is illegal?

That's like banning the word "Bitcoin", but using it to shore up your governments bank.

Also, and much more importantly, why are people still using tobacco?

This also applies to (non-tobacco) nicotine pouches and snus.

The WHO has been pushing this for a long time, arguing it would take away the “cool” factor for those who use these products.
