Guessing it’s the same as anything, you hash a message and achieve something specific in the hashed output - often leading zeros. The more unlikely the output, the harder it probably was. I saw something the other day where Nostr messages got PoW added to them to filter out spam.

instead of just generating a normal id hash, you use it as PoW for your notes id
