#Nostr could learn a thing or two from #StackerNews.

Over there, everything comes with a price tag in sats, every post or comment requires you to pay some sats. This helps prevent spam, bots and low-quality content.

There are no meaningless Likes/Upvotes there aswell, only Zaps, so users zap each other all the time and sats are flying left and right. The platform takes a small fee and then rewards the best content, creating an environment where V4V is highly encouraged. It truly feels like a circular economy.

On the other hand, Nostr feels like it's still stuck in the fiat Twitter mindset, where meaningless Likes are still thing and barely anyone zaps.

Nostr should consider completely removing likes/reactions from clients and replacing them with zaps. There's no excuse for anyone not being able to pay 1 sat instead of a Like. Posts and comments should also cost a small fee that goes to relays. Additionally, implementing a paywall for DMs, so users who i not Follow have to pay a set a mount of sats would help against spam.
