Would anyone know, if there's a client out there with a extra tier of sorting your feed?

Or if it is in any way possible to group # follows?

Wouldn't necessarily need that. Currently using Amethyst, and I never check global. Too messy
This is fake news. Voyage has a global, web of trust, follows and topic feed.
