I donβt know much about NIPs and the NIP system in #nostr. But I have the feeling that there is something wrong with it and that it needs to be fixed.
A protocol is a protocol. If the NIPs are twisted and bent by clients, and still honored by relays then the protocol is no longer *the* protocol. At that time everything starts being dysfunctional. And people leave no?

Well, it's kind of open to interpretation. The water is definitely muddy, and we will evolve past the use case for some. But I think some may be retasked? We discussed this earlier, how nip-05 isn't really super useful as a verification of a real person, but it may have a use as a verification of an off-nostr user of a domain.
