I don’t know much about NIPs and the NIP system in #nostr. But I have the feeling that there is something wrong with it and that it needs to be fixed.

A protocol is a protocol. If the NIPs are twisted and bent by clients, and still honored by relays then the protocol is no longer *the* protocol. At that time everything starts being dysfunctional. And people leave no?

Well let me tell you about nips. The first thing to realize is that they are...wait NIP-05...What the hell is that?

Well, it's kind of open to interpretation. The water is definitely muddy, and we will evolve past the use case for some. But I think some may be retasked? We discussed this earlier, how nip-05 isn't really super useful as a verification of a real person, but it may have a use as a verification of an off-nostr user of a domain.
