I wonder how much damage we're doing to each other by sarcastically saying really dumb, obviously incorrect things to each other that observers will just take as fact and then earnestly repeat to others as something they heard.
Now that thing that was so stupid it obviously couldn't be true is a repeated thing that everybody has heard.

Someone was repeating the "Mr. Rogers was a sniper" meme in a thread. Someone responded with the truth that he was a minister and not likely to kill people and their argument was it could have been before they became a minister and I honestly don't know if they know that that's all bullshit and they're just having a laugh or if they're just wrong about the whole thing, but I do know that there's the possibility that that "fact" has now sunk into people heads absent from the original context that tried to make it clear that it was a joke.
