You lost me where you went from "measure of value" to "fixed supply". If the thing you're measuring grows doesn't the reference good need to grow in supply too?
I mean if I have a new table twice as long as the old one I need longer yard stick to measure its length?
Nope. The meter is always that length determined by the convention (International Units).
