I’m playing with mobile #bitcoin wallets. I have created a wallet on Blue Wallet App. Is this secure? And non-custodial? If Blue wallet stop working, can I import that seed phase in another wallet? What other wallets are compatible with that seed phrase? That wallet I created, is it directly on the blockchain? Thanks in advance!

As secure as your device is. Compatibility depends on the type of cryptography used, u can determine which is by the first letters of the address. The ones that start with btc1 are compatible with most if not all current wallets. If u get a hardware wallet, tho, create a new seed offline and a new wallet, and do not associate with this one as it was already “ seen” online.

Good points if op is privacy/focused or has a significant amount of Bitcoin in their wallet. Thanks!

As latinos we know how Orwellian our government and justice systems can be, so privacy is something we really should care about at all times.

Thank you for your answer! I just received a seed phrase from Blue wallet (not a private key). The wallet says:

HD SegWit (BIP84 Bench32 Native)

I can’t see a btc1 address, not sure if it’s ok.

You can see the wallet address when u click on the “receive” button, it generates he QR code and shows the wallet address under that, like this one:

bc1q678gp65e806k6gpm3r79r0ytuzcqjvp7czdk0h (invalid, for example only)

I’ve only used blue wallet as a watch wallet for my node’s lightning. But if it’s giving you seed phrase you should be able to input that into other wallets, almost any non-custodial wallet. Blue Wallet might have stopped developing? Haven’t heard much about them for a while.

For non-custodial I’ve heard Phoenix and Alby being recommended. Good questions. There should def be a push to do self-hosting with the senator Warrens of the world trying to have a say about what we decide to save.

Cheers!

Thank you for your answer! I didn’t get this part:

“There should def be a push to do self-hosting with the senator Warrens of the world trying to have a say about what we decide to save.”

My english is not very good, I think it’s a joke? But I didn’t get it 😣 excuse me.

In the US, Senator warren is a government representative who is trying to make laws against mining and privacy. You may also have government representatives where you are who want to control the money you use. Do not let them do this to you.

Not a joke.

Thank you for your explanation! Now I got it 👍

Also mutiny wallet is the nkotb but I haven’t tried it myself. Was on the waiting list but didn’t hear back.

Thank you! I heard about it but I have to check it out 👍

Blue wallet is non-custodial and open-source.

You can import the seed created there on any other wallet that uses BIP39.

Yes, it’s convenient and secure.

You can also connect BlueWallet to your own node.

Thank you for your answer! I don’t have my own node, maybe some day!

Step by step. 😉
