I think it refers to plebeian from ancient Rome. Common people or here on nostr non-elite.
You’re right. The funny thing is that the people here on nostr today will more than likely be socioeconomic elites in 10 years. More of what the ancient Romans would’ve called the knight class(or the equites). Funny we call ourselves plebs, I guess we mostly are for now though
