Hi. I’m new to this topic.

A few questions:

Why are race and gender included as disabilities?

Why is mental illness excluded from the list?

I’m basing myself on the following:

To that end, the Disability x Tech Fund supports organizations that are disability-led and disability-serving, particularly those led by Black, Indigenous and people of color; queer and gender nonconforming people; and women.

Brb to this. Will get back to you later today when I can offer more focused attention. 💜

Thanks. I’m actually realizing that all disabilities are left out and none of the things listed are actual disabilities:

Black, Indigenous and people of color;

Queer and gender nonconforming people;

Women

Hi there. Waiting to hear back.

Ah thanks! The notifications view got me there for a minute.

Mental illness/cognitive health falls within disability. It wouldn’t be included separately.

Re: race/gender, they aren’t included as disabilities. Its a demographic mention in their categorization. If a person whose lived experience is that of a ____ and they are disabled then xyz.

In general, I was just glad to view this article. I do not work for Borealis Philanthropy or The Ford Foundation.
