Its called compartmentalization. If a countries internal politics are dog shit, I don't care if they're mother there's on the global stage, governments are supposed to look out for their people at the very least.

Doesn't matter if they do or not, that is their priority, their constituents, then external.

I do disagree with your point tho, some city and county governments are decent.
