Why is there nothing rather than something?

Not sure if he is right. But I just got to this excerpt in a book I am reading. Seemed relevant.
Maybe something did spring up from something else?
I’m still trying to figure it out. Probably never will though. 🤷♂️
But isn’t nothing something? 👁️
