Works great if you can tell whether the machine is on (or not). For example, a lot of EVs have this type of switch, and since they make no engine noise, it’s impossible to tell if the car is on.

The ones in the USA legally have to have an audible sound when they’re on.

On the outside, yes. On the inside, no. Not that I’d want noise on the inside of course. Just that the traditional toggle switch provides feedback that the push-button does not.
