indonesia is actually one of the most populous nations on the planet, for land area, i think they are not far behind USA and Russia for population while having less land than vietnam

As long as Australia maintains some independence from the US, they will have more reason to trade with the Chinese than to fight with them, and the Chinese have more reason to trade with them too
