Well first of all, you only get translated notes if you connect to a translated relay

Second, relays that reject other languages are possible

Third, "Only English speakers would prefer what you are suggesting" is very ironic. I'm much more used to Americans complaining about Spanish.

second, yes and the language query parameter would help with that

third, I agree americans complain about spanish which is why they would prefer to just have it translated for them. but don't totally understand your point here

Not my initial pov, but a relay could offer this service if the protocol support a "translation" tag. Of course can be used by clients too: a user could compose more notes translated (even manually) and link them together, the receiving client shows one (default or matching the client lang) and the offer direct access to the translations.

Useful for a medium-style use case.

hmm not sure if I like having users compose multiple notes for translation, but definitely could work

i was imagining translation to be done by client when displaying note. seems simplest.
