Working on integrating NIP57 (zaps) to my LND instance. LND caps the invoice description at 639 bytes. The zap request note is frequently longer than 639 bytes. Ugh.

You need to set it as the description hash, not description
You are correct I don’t *have* to put the zap request note (kind 9734) in the invoice description. But it’s the free way of persisting that note object.
Because I’m limited to 639 bytes I have to persist the zap request note somewhere and associate it with an invoice.
