it's a diss to her old record label because they wouldn't let her own her own music, it's a whole thing.

i don't think they have the same promotion tho, because taylor has her own team (unless he's included as part of her "brand" now)

I heard it on No Agenda podcast, so pretty sure there's some connection there. It was said in context of, "we keep pointing out, but nobody seems to notice, yada yada." Maybe marketing agency? I didn't care enough to research, just made mental note, saving it up for a situation like this one.

Ah yes, I'd heard a bit about this drama. I can't seem to escape learning about certain elements of pop culture I am otherwise shielded from in my cozy echo chamber.

Also heard she started out as a country singer, complete with whole twang in speech. And rumors are her last name was "ACH" before she changed it to "SWIFT," though that seems crazy to me 👀

As you can probably tell, I have mixed feelings about her. Cunning chameleon who'll say anything for money, natural talent with organic fan base, something else?! Still unsure

could be marketing? it can't be management because she has her own management company (it's run by her parents)

i should find the episode because ive never heard that and I love a good conspiracy (๑>◡<๑)

im a fan of the story (the music) but not a worshipper of the author if that makes sense??? like i don't think shes an angel, she's a cunning and evil and i love it lmao

mostly i think she was on the internet at the right time to game parasocial fan relations, she used to hang out on tumblr and if you fan posted hard enough you would get invited to her actual house and stuff

Oh wow. Heard she writes her songs, so props for that at least. You understand the temptation to hate is strong though..

I scanned real quick but couldn't find it. It was a few lints back, an aside by one of the hosts, but 5 mins of searching is all I can devote while still maintaining my claim that "I don't care."

Maybe I'll find it later, but I'm sure there's something there, cuz those guys are good at calling out/dissecting such things, if nothing else

It's not on Spotify (I know, annoying) but tldr really good political clips from the week with commentary. They've been at it for 18 years. Adam actually invented podcasts (not a joke), and does this whole value for value, no sponsors or ads thing. I listen to them on Fountain, but other ways exist. There's a website I think, of "podcasting 2.0" aps, but just use fountain if you're curious, as I don't know the site off hand

she writes all her songs, a third of them are solo written (for reference, ed sheeran comes in second for pop solo output at about 15%)

i actually get the hate temptation too, I have to ACTIVELY AVOID visual media or i will turn (like a worm)
