My first kid arrives in 5 months. Do you have tips or things someone told you before becoming a parent?

The best advice I got was from the book “Parent Speak” which proposes

a) talking to kids as adults

b) don’t lie to them (no Santa BS, etc)

Highly recommend that book and Precious Little Sleep

I did this.

Now they get very upset with anyone else that doesn’t.

How do you explain it to them?

By actually doing this in practice.

Kids are little adults, treat them as such but with even more dedication than you would to others as they’re yours.

Have you read the sovereign child? Do you rate it? Pretty radical imo
