Hey are there better tools for onboarding people to nostr yet? Like how can I get people started with a reasonable list of npubs to follow without asking them to click follow on every single profile I follow?

Have them add wss://theforest.nostr1.com to their relays, scroll through global and follow whatever looks interesting.
Will only 1 relay be okay? Is it paid? I need to seriously learn about relays. Lol
It's free to read, paid to write (300 sats/month). It's a good place to pick up follows. Just add a second relay to write to, if you don't want to subscribe.
I wouldn't look at global on any other relay, tho, to avoid needing eye bleach.

Let me configure stuffs. I have like 20 relays. Out box inbox and chat and what not . I use amethyest. I can give 300 zaps i suppose people do zap me sometimes so I guess itll be sustainable.

imo nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg has the best onboarding experience. it also has the most traditional feel and the best search features.
introduce them in a post - that’s usually a decent jump start.
Nostr could really benefit from some sort of npub rating system. e.g. I would love to be able to do something like "add to my feed everyone who nostr:npub1xgyjasdztryl9sg6nfdm2wcj0j3qjs03sq7a0an32pg0lr5l6yaqxhgu7s has rated at least 4 stars" (or whatever).
BTW, it seems like I see an awful lot of proposed use cases where such a rating system could sure come in handy. I would love to see Nostr support being more reputation-based.
Some of this is starting with the Web of Trust stuff, but few clients have integrated it. I use follows and mutes data to calculate WoT scores for your follows network (usually about 180k pubkeys) using 3 different scoring methods. One of the applications is that you can look at your followers, filter & stratify them using these scores, maybe use that to help you decide which of your followers to follow back!
