Really hate the feeling when you transfer a large amount of money from an exchange to a hardware wallet. The what if it gets lost feeling.

It gets much easier after doing it many times.

Also consider this - which one is more likely to get lost, a broadcasted Bitcoin transaction or your bar of gold in the mail?

How does that work?

Most shippers offer insurance if you pay for it. You can ship things like a Rolex watch for example. Once Bitcoin leaves your wallet it is gone.
