I buy most of my meat, dairy, eggs, fruit & veg etc at the farmer’s market each week. I’m lucky to also have a good health food/bulk food type store nearby. They stock a good range of products and source a lot from local producers. They also pay a lot of attention to ensuring that the stuff they sell is good quality, made with “clean” ingredients, and not processed. I really only use Coles or Woollies for things like toilet paper or if I need something I can’t easily get elsewhere. It does take more time and probably costs more but I think it is worth it for the better quality.
