They have gone by several names throughout history and or region. I'm sure this is for deceptive reasons similar to how in the United States the Federal Reserve has nothing to do with the federal government. They give it a nice pretty name so less people know about the private corporation. In short currency, money, ledgers, banks, bankers, ect are their tools. People have struggled for centuries to define them because they always remained hidden.
Myself I often refer to them as The Evil Fuckers. You're free to use that one if you like.
