Yeah, these older processors have a hard time in new the UIs from Jetpack Compose :(

Hmmm that's weird, most of my apps move smooth still, but maybe I don't have another app that uses the same Jetpack compose.

Still will update my phone soon to one with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 and will report back to you on how it goes.

Thanks for your reply and interest, BTW.

Two videos demonstrating the difference in scrolling on my Androod M13 octocore Android 13 phone between Plebstr (smooth and responsive) and Amethyst (feels laggy and unresponsive):

https://photonsphere.org/nostr/Amethyst-v65-trimmed.mp4

(BTW: I like Amethyst very much because it has lots of nice functionality is robust and is actively maintained.)

Yep, the difference is that plebstr doesn't load everything as you scroll as we do. Is it similar in your own feed?

Yes, but then Plebstr loads the content delayed, in a 'frame' already sized correctly to fit, instead of the blurs.

sort of 'graphically indexing' it first, displaying correctly sized pre-holder frames and loading the actual contents using different threads (?)

Yep, fixing the size speed things up but the breaks some of the experience

That's true, sometimes there are visual delays where subcontent is still loading. But it does make it very responsive.

Does that happen in the version we just released? And does it happen in your feed too?

(I meant in Plebstr)

The video I made is with Amethyst v *.0.65 (am using Obtainium, per your suggestion)

Does that jittering happen in your feed as well or just on global?

The same in my feed (just tried it in Amethyst v65)

I will make a video.

It's interesting because this is worse than a Pixel 6 in debug mode (which has a lot of junk in it).

Thanks. Can't see it on phone (will try download on PC, later).

The same in latest v0.62.7

Perhaps thisâť”(below); I did have animations disabled (but reenabling them doesn't seem to make much difference)

I have the same experience on a galaxy note 10+, had to switch to plebstr as well

A Galaxy Note 10.1? I still have one of those, with Lineage OS 18.1 installed. Old, slow, really slow hardware. I'm gonna try to install Amethyst on it.

Installs fine and is usable (albeit slow, very old hardware).

Plebstr installs but doesn't work (displays only a splash screen; no login screen)...
