My answer is that if a government starts a genocide that the population is okay with, then violence as an act of self-defense against an aggressor is justified, yes.

If someone comes to your house uninvited and starts killing your family, are you not justified in stopping the person? Tell me, should the Soviets have left Berlin alone? Should the allies have just live and let live?
