I used bitchat at Cripto latin fest with a bunch of other people. It is cool I guess if you're within like twenty feet of someone but beyond that it is totally useless. Reticulum is very interesting.

Yeah, haha, kind of my point. I was at Cripto latin fest, a conference in Medellin and like ten of us were using it but bluetooth's range is super short. It was cool I guess to not have to shout across a crowded room, but it was super easy to get disconnected from the group chat, and was more of a novelty than actually useful.
