That pastor is very well respected by some pretty hard core Bible thumping Christians and has been preaching for more than 50 years. I am sure he doesn't get everything right because no one does but he is for sure worth listening to.

Here are some Bible verses showing that hell is eternal

Matthew 25:46

And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Mark 9:47-48

And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, where “‘the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched.’

Also here Jesus is not telling us to pluck out our eyes but is making it clear just how serious this is.

2 Thessalonians 1:8-9

8 in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might,

This is the example you used

Jude 7

7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire,[a] serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.

notice this says eternal fire, meaning forever of course, not burnt out after a bit.

Revelation 14:9-11

9 And another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he also will drink the wine of God's wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.”

All of this is directly from the Bible and makes it clear hell is for eternity. Do I want there to be a hell, do I want anyone to go there? Of course not! But this is the way our Creator made things and there is nothing I can do about it.
