Thanks for the reply and I appreciate this quote but IMO “humility” as interchangeable with “unselfishness” as both are an appeal to self-denial. Whereas Christian love is a fulfillment of the human condition which overflows in humility and unselfishness but not as an end in itself.

Humility is just a call to think about other people and focus on your love for them instead of intense self focus

The quote I posted is from CS Lewis as well and not at odds at all

Good stuff this is why I enjoy nostr. Try having this exchange on twitter 😂 Don’t disagree what humility is but rather that humility without Christ is simply self denial. BUT with Christ humility becomes a natural outpouring of His love. I believe that is what CS Lewis is trying to emphasize in the first chapter of “weight of glory”. I am no theologian just a sinner trying to be a better reflection of Him so take this with a grain of salt.
