#asknostr I read somewhere that relays leak or have access to your IP address when using #nostr … true or false?

Just trying to understand the true aspects of privacy here…especially in a time when this is paramount.

There are tor relays btw. Just throwing that out there. And tor mode on amethyst. But I'm not sure that answers you question.... I can't answer your question. I'm to silly:)

True, you have to request events from the relay so it knows your IP. Just like accessing a website.

Until we have a way to connect to one another on the internet other than TCP/IP, EVERYTHING sees whatever IP address you are presenting it with, whether that it is yours, your VPN provider's, or that of a Tor exit node (if I understand correctly how Tor works).

Nostr is not an exception.
