Switching cost being 0 is probably a detractor for anyone thinking of building a startup on nostr. You do all the work and someone clones you and vibes a better version over night. Not exactly a selling point.
Discussion
I think of it more like .. use nostr to clone a popular app for a specific community... Ie. Facebook marketplace clone serving two local farmers markets. Low lift. useful, keeps money, attention in community. Anchor links from nostr on encumbant platforms for distribution. Great way to introduce BTC based payment rails....
No-one is going to "vibe code" a better version of anything that had a USP in the first place.
Then you start with an outdated mindset.
The state licenced company model is already dead.
A "startup" should not serve the state. Free competing ideas are what benefit all of us, not just the proprietary start up founders.
All the startups have their 5 minutes of fame. No one will remember Mark Fuckerberg hundred years down the road. People will remember those that built the new protocols for free trade, free movement, free speech...
1. Provide paid support that is low cost and accessible so the masses see your value.
2. Lower the price to increase the reach and accept slower steady growth.
3. Focus on business instead of individuals. They want simple useful tools that they do not have to build. Small business owners do not want to have to have another thing built if they can just access an existing product that has a high value and low cost.
4. Look at what you need and figure out what enough is and have that goal in mind instead of the fiat mindset of I have to have more.
These points have worked well for my family for 47 years of running a business that has a low barrier to entry and low start up cost. We have done just this and built a decent loyal customer base that would rather use us even if they could do the work themselves.
