That approach is great as well, just have to be careful and well defined when talking about 'Liberty'. Being explicit with defining Liberty as being "Negative Rights" and emphasizing non-coercion. Then its easy to banter about being a Liberty Maximalist.
Discussions on first principles work best for me, try not to muddy up my argumentation with statistical reasoning.
