I took a typing class in high school circa 1996. We were taught to double space after periods. Even today on iOS, a double space gives you a period.

That was a holdover from learning on typewriters where you absolutely had to double pace after a period.
I believe Microsoft Word had auto spacing on one click of the space bar very, very early on, if not from the start.
Satoshi double spaced. People think he’s old on account of it.
I suggest he could be young but formally trained in typing.
Some kids got double spacing ingrained in them from parents perhaps?
2008 was close enough where if he was a Gen-Xer it could go either way.

I learned double space around ‘83, in grade 8 typing class. Used it for almost four decades. Took me about two years to break the habit. I always liked the look of the double space. Not anymore though.
