Fountain Pen Questions / Problems:
I got a Platinum Plaisir Fountain Pen since it was cheap ($18 on sale) and a recommended beginner pen, with the tinniest tip option because I write small, as a test to see if I like fountain pens. I am enjoying it, however:
1. I dislike the "scratching" sensation that writing produces, it kinda also makes a scratching noise as the tip drags on the paper. This happens regardless of paper, and if I press less, there is no ink flow, so I have played with angles/holding/paper types - I am a very light touch and I have to be heavier handed than my normal to get any ink flow at all regardless of holding angle. Obviously some angles and papers are better than others, but the gross scratching sound/sensation never fully goes away.
2. It seems very sensitive to angles, and often I do not get smooth flow of ink. This is getting better the more I use it, but the lingering problem is it seems to take a slight pause at start of every set-onto-paper to initiate flow before I can start writing. If I forget to pause before moving the tip after touching it to the paper, there is no ink and it never starts to flow. The "mental semicolon pauses" for each word (or worse if not writing in cursive) is a pain in the brain and makes me forget what I wanted to say.
So. Are these issues common with all fountain pens, or is it due to just, "this pen"' because it's cheap?
If it is just this pen, what affordable options would you recommend to fix the issues?
ALSO:
How do I get whatever ink I want into it? It uses cartridges, but colors are limited. I ordered the only purple option, but it's not a nice deep purple, it's like a neon purple, which is nice but not what I wanted for a daily writer.
